Gah

I'm not in the best of moods right now. (Just warning you.)I can't say much more than that. But trust me; if you are reading this, my mood has nothing to do with you.

Tonight I get to visit my friends Misti and G. That will put me back to rights. :-)

Another Weird Dream

Well, I had another one of my Weird Dreams last night. I dreamt I was observing...it was like I was watching it on TV, except I was there. Does that make sense? (Note: Do not read further if even the word "needles" makes you nervous.)

Dream, 7-28-05

A gentleman arrives at his house. He lives in a small house with his young daughter (played by Dakota Fanning) and his two Native American parents.

His daughter welcomes him home with open arms. His mother, with her long black hair falling to her knees, tells him it is time for Daughter's treatment. So he sets her up on a table and takes out a long needle (the length of Daughter's arm) and a bag full of fluid. (Apparently some kind of medicine.) He then plunges the needle in Daughter's wrist.

Daughter screams and cries. He continues to put it into her arm. When the tip of her needle is in her shoulder, he attaches the bag and pours the fluid into her arm. She screams "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee" repeatedly.

Finally, the treatment is done. He cradles his young daughter in his arms while she cries away the pain. Finally, she falls into this deep sleep.

A knock on the door. Still carrying daughter, the man answers. It is a lady with straggly blond hair. Apparently, it is her mother.

"I've come to see my kid..." she says.

"She won't wake," the man replies.

(END DREAM)

So, friends, what do you make of this? Do I have some sadistic tendecies? I hope not....

Wedding Reception Stuff

OK, since Brian isn't allowing comments on his and Misti's wedding website, I shall have to comment here.

I have a few suggestions for locations for the wedding reception:

The Ford Center
Cox Convention Center
State Fair Park (for an outdoor reception)
Bricktown Ball Park

I Am Home!

Will blog more later...when I am reasonably inspired. I have quite a bit to talk about, but none of the energy.

Incredible Pizza

Well, Tuesday night I went to Incredible Pizza for the first time. A bunch of us went to celebrate Nancy's birthday. It's very interesting...you buy a card with video game credit, then you use it to play games. We rode on go-carts...and Nancy won! She got a ribbon.

Anyway, it was very interesting. They have this buffet where you can get different kinds of pizza, salad, pasta and desserts. I tried some fettucine alfredo, but I don't know that I liked it very much. It was too reminiscent of Fazoli's to me. I did like their chocolate chip cookies, though.

As far as pizza buffets go, I am partial to Mazzios. I like their crispy pizza, and they have yummy chocolate chip pizza. (Ya know, that sounds good for lunch. If it weren't halfway across town, I would go there. Ah, well. Perhaps another time.)

Subject? Oh, yeah, Nancy's party. Overall, I had a good time. I played this new game (well, new to me, anyway) called Feeding Frenzy. You play a fish that is swimming around in a tank, avoiding bigger fish, but eating smaller fish. Very cool.

Books

Wow...I've become addicted to books. Or addicted to reading, rather.

I have finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. All I can say is...wow. And whoa. And alas. If you don't know what I am talking about, read the book today. If you do, commiserate with me. My comment box is open for business, as always.

I have also been reading the Little House books again. Man, things were so different back in the 1880's. Not necessarily easier. Sure, they didn't have to worry about terrorism and school shootings and stuff, but they did worry about such things as where they were gonna get their next meal. Still, sometimes I think I may like to go back to those days. Only to visit, though.

Only two more work days this week. Then I am going to Missouri for my family reunion. Should be lots of fun.

Off to Incredible Pizza!

Bridesmaid Stuff (and Other Adventures)

Well, on Saturday I went to the city to try on bridesmaid dresses for Misti's wedding. Misti told us that we could wear whatever we like, as long as it is apple red. I think I found one that I like. It kind of has the cow neck (what's the delicate word for that, again?). I opted for the longer skirt, seeing as the tea-length one made me look like I was wearing high-waters. I also had a pair of ballet-style shoes laid back for me.

But I was having oil-pressure problems with my car. Whenever I would turn left, my oil pressure would go down to zero. That's not good. So, after shopping and lunch (where I hit my head HARD on the light fixture--OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!) I went to Auto Zone. The gentleman there was kind and helped me out a great deal. Turned out that my oil was low, so he helped me put some new in.

So my weekend was good, but I was late to work today. Sigh. It wasn't too bad, though. I had overslept and didn't hear my alarm go off. Double sigh.

Just Not My Day...

'Nuff said.

Something to Look Forward To

In all the ho-hums of life, it's great to have something to look forward to. I am about to embark on one of the best journeys of my life.

In a few short months, I will be a bridesmaid for the first time in my life. Misti has asked me to be in her wedding. I am so excited. With all of my imperfections, God has shown me that I am important enough to Him to be honored in such a way by someone I care about.

Of course, I am also thrilled for Misti and Brian. They are, of course, two of my dearest friends in the world. I have known them for about three years, and I consider them my "big brother and sister". I can always count on Misti to offer me a big ol' hug, or a prayer or encouraging word. And Brian...I can always count on him to make some joke to lift my spirits.

So, I am honored to be a part of their special day. On Saturday, as I have mentioned, I am going with Misti and some of the other bridesmaids to look at dresses.

I can hardly wait.

Link of The Day

I read this story last night. It is about a woman whose baby was stillborn. Her faith in God despite the loss of her child is an inspiration to me. Even though it is a very sad story, it made me feel like there is still good in the world.

More Power To 'Em

I came across some information today on this TLC documentary that aired several months ago, "14 Kids...and Pregnant Again!" It seems that a lot of people are shocked that a woman would voluntarily concieve, give birth to and raise 15 kids...and still want more.

As I researched, though, I became impressed. I mean, come on. It takes a lot of energy and guts to raise 15 children. To do so is pretty impressive. To raise them in the Christian faith is more so. These kids are homeschooled, don't watch TV and are raised to have faith in God. Is that such a bad thing?

I mean, I don't know if I would be up to the task of raising 15 kids. I get weary just keeping an eye on a couple at a time. Maybe that's why I am still single.

So I say, more power to 'em.

Tired

I am so tired this morning. Thank God I don't have to be in to work until 1 p.m. I do have a lot I could be doing instead of sleeping, though. I need to catch up on my rest. Oh, well. Also, I still have my headache from last night. Darn it.

I can't wait for this weekend. I am going with Misti and some of the other bridesmaids in her wedding to look at bridesmaid dresses. Fun times. :-)

Not much else to post right now.

Road Construction

Rant of the Day:

If I never, ever, EVER see another road construction cone in my LIFE, it will be not be soon enough. Seriously. Saturday night I went to Life Church in South Oklahoma City...then I went home. I-40 was backed up for at LEAST two miles. The reason? Road construction...in at LEAST two places.

It seems like every major highway in Oklahoma City has construction on it. No kidding. I especially love it when they cut four-lane highways to maybe three-fourths of a lane. Just makes things real safe all around. If you HAVE to do that, a detour is in order. Especially when there are cars parked in the shoulder. It makes it REALLY dangerous.

If you think detours are an inconvenience to the motorists, well, so are flat tires, side-swiping Mr. Car Parked in the Shoulder, angry bosses, and heart attacks caused by traffic being backed up for five miles or more.

Whew. Okay, I'm done.

Today I work at Sonic from 11 to 7. After that...sleep, wonderful sleep.

God is Amazing

Usually I don't post on Sundays, but I thought I would give you some insight as to what God is doing in my life. This song pretty much says it better than I could ever do.

Indescribable

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

Darn it!

I was trying to figure out how to post pics on my blog...but my stupid scanner doesn't work! Acck! I have some pictures saved, but they are all at least two years old! Darn it! Oh, well. I will figure this scanner thing out at some point, I am sure.

In other news, I went over to my friend Josh's house last night. He has this hall in his house that he is trying to make as weird as possible. It has an old mirror, one of those old chairs that look like it could be on The Adams Family, a candlestick and more. Anyway, he has this lamp that he wanted to put in there. He wanted it to hang from the ceiling. After several tries, he finally got it on there.

Not much else happened than that. I am going to Brian's house this evening after work. If I am still alive by then.

Emotions

I am feeling very, very emotional. Not sure why.

Please pray for me.

My Twin

Early this morning, I got a phone call from my friend Josh. He told me that he had just seen my car--a red Thunderbird with a dent in the side--and someone with red hair driving it. He said the person looked just like me. I told him, "No...I am at my house getting ready for work."

So, I am wondering...is my twin driving around town? Wow...two of me...how fun!
I must meet this girl.

I heard this song on the radio this morning. It is one of my favorites.

Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
Closer to where I started,
I'm chasing after you

I'm fallin even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hangin' by a moment here with you

Forgetting all I'm lacking
Completely and complete
I'll take your invitation
You take all of me

Now I'm fallin even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hangin' by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and I crash
Oh where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hangin' by a moment here with you

There's nothing else to lose
There's nothing else to find
There's nothing in the world
That could change my mind
There is nothing else
There is nothing else
There is nothing else

Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
Closer to where I started,
I'm chasing after you

I'm fallin even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hangin' by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and I crash
Oh where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hangin' by a moment here with you

Just hanging by a moment
Hanging by a moment
Hanging by a moment
Waiting by a moment here with you

Falling Even More In Love With You

Squeee!

I can now post pictures to my blog! Yay!

Beware, friends. Be very, very ware....

(insert evil laugh here)

Summer Experiences

Well, I had some more Summer Experiences this weekend:

--Lighting fireworks...at my stepsister's house, Saturday evening. I actually lit a firework for the first time! Well, my cousin Mike helped me, but I did it! (Speaking of...we lit nearly $400 U.S. worth of fireworks. It was really cool. Alas, we did have some injuries. I stepped on a hot ash and burned my toe! Owwwwwwwwwwwww! And a poor little boy popped a Black Cat in his hand. It was sad. Fortunately, thank God, no one was SERIOUSLY injured.)
--Eating the best homemade ice cream in the world. Butterfinger.....mmmmmmmmm....(starts drooling a la Homer J. Simpson)
--Riding the water taxi at the Bricktown Canal Sunday evening, for the first time ever. The boat was amazing...I had a lot of fun.
--Something else I did for the first time...ate at Mickey Mantle! I had a Prime Steak. Mmmmm...Best One Ever. My grandmother had lamb chops. I got to eat a bit of hers, and it was really tasty...all nice and juicy. One thing I find unusuall...your meals don't come with sides; you have to order them separately.
--After we got off the boat, we saw War of the Worlds at Harkins Theater. Wow...the effects were just amazing (to quote every review of the movie I have seen). No, really, it was a really good movie. Tom Cruise is HOT! And Dakota Fanning is the cutest girl I have ever seen. And she seems like a normal little girl, too. (I think that's why I don't mind Hilary Duff too much...she doesn't feel like she has to go party and get drunk and stuff like all the other actresses her age. But I digress...)
--Losing spectacularly at Mexican Train on Friday evening. (I never thought it possible to score 144 on one hand. Dag.)
--Monday afternoon, I ate at Bourbon Street Cafe. I had a bowl of lobster bisque (mmmmmm...must learn how to make that.), and an appetizer of coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp were about the size of my hand, and soooo yummy.
--After lunch, I went shopping with Misti and Brian. I bought three pairs of flip-flops and a dress at Old Navy. At Target I bought two new pairs of shorts and a shirt. (Brian bought his first pair of flip-flops. We were so proud of him!
--Watching seven or eight fireworks displays at once, on top of Integris Hospital. I went with Misti, Brian, Cindy and Wendy.

Have a great weekend....see ya Tuesday!
